Lorella Rapisarda

Teacher and choreographer, Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) from the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of New York (2000), Nikolais/Louis Technique Certificated Teacher (2000), Shiatsu Practitioner (2007).

She started to study dance in Florence with Simona Bucci in the ’80 and in New York since the ’90 at the Martha Graham School and Limon Institute. She started to teach Contemporary dance since 1989 in several dance and theatre schools in Italy. Since 1991 she creates her own choreography and collaboration with several artists, she also work as professional dancer in some dance companies like Imago, Il Ballarino, Thauma- Teatri de Vento. . Since 1998 she collaborates with the musician Ettore Bonafè creating a workshop for dancers, actors and musicians called Rhythm and Movement, in the same year she starts to collaborate with Theater school Centro iniziative Teatrali. Her collaboration with the New York painter and art director Lisa Zaccaria begins in 2001 with the project Art & Dance Group based on the fusion between dance, painting and photography. She also creates her on choreography projects. Between 2000 and 2001 she works as a mime-dancer at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, she teaches fitness and dance in two YMCA centers, and participate in a project of Observation of Human Behaviour at the Cardozo Law School researching on hoe the Laban/Bartenieff  theories could be applyed to the Mediation activity. 

She gives introductory workshops on the Laban/Bartenieff System, and she teaches in the Certification Programm for CMA’s, recognized by the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of New York. The Programm was organized at the Theater School Paolo Gassi in Milan in the years 2002/2004. In 2002 she teaches in the Professional Training for Dancers promoted by the Fondazione del Teatro del Maggio Musicale of Florence (Italy).  Between 2007 and 2019 she teaches at the Accademia Internazionale Coreutica in Florence. She is one of the founders of the  ADARTE Association and  Thymos Association (a movement research center that promotes the Laban/Bartenieff System in its different applications and evolutions). Between 2012 and 2013 she collaborates with IALS in Rome proposing worshops for professional dancers.  Since 2016 she teaches Laban/Bartenieff workshops at the drama school Paolo Grassi in Milan during the Summer School and Open Classes Intensives. In 2016 starts the collaboration with IDA (International Dance Association), as a teacher  at the ” Course for professional dancers specialized in choreography” and the “course for Dance Teacher”.  She attends the course “Dance for Parkinson Desease” in 2016 at the Mark Morris Dance Group/Brooklyn Parkinson Group in Brooklyn New York. In 2017-2018 she teaches espressive movement to disabled people at the association “Il Girasole” In Prato. Since 2018 she collaborate with the Public Library in Calenzano proposing expressive movement classe open to everyone. In the same year she starts to collaborate with endocrinologist Stefania Frilli and psychologist Valeria Pisanò in a group project for food disorders (www.disturbialimentarifirenze.it). 

She attends in international conferences such as Encontro Laban- Languages of the Body (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 2002) and Laban Event 2008 (Monte Verità, Switzerland 2008), Lims Conference (New York 2018), Eurolab Conference (Remscheid 2018), Somatic Pedagogies and Performative Practices (Cork 2019).

She will be teaching starting on December 2019in the Certificate Laban/Bartenieff Program in Rome organized by Whole Movement and Association Choronde.

She is now a student in the course Dynamic Embodiment Somatic Movement Training directed by Martha Eddy.  She lives in Tuscany and she travels through out Italy with her workshops and courses from basic to advanced level.  She writes articles on movement and its connection to health, well being and personal expression.
