Introduction Laban/Bartenieff Workshop
JANUARY 18 in Vicenza ITALY.
The Laban/Bartenieff movement analysis it’s a useful tool for the dancers and the dance teachers. The system is based on basic movement principles that everyone uses no matter what kind of technique you are practicing, the Laban/Bartenieff approach helps in finding more awareness on movement and develops the ability to understand, describe, create and communicate through movement. There are 4 categories under which we can observe and understand movement: BODY, SPACE, EFFORT, SHAPE.
In this first workshop we will explore the BODY category to see how the body organizes itself to do a certain action and how can we develop our expressive side by understanding some basic anatomy concepts and the functionality in movement. We will see how exploring the BODY category can help the creativity side. To move, observe, describe, create.
We will learn how the Bartenieff Fundamentals help us to organize our body and the coordination, and improve clarity about how a movement starts and develops.
During this week end we will explore:
- Bartenieff Fundamentals
- Basic Body Actions
The first part of the workshop will be a contemporary dance class based on these principles, the second part will be a laboratory where we can discuss theory and practice the principles with guided improvisations. I will provide written material and I suggest to have a booknote.
The workshop will be at ETRADANZA in the “Centro la Galleria” via Nogara 36 Alte di Montecchio Magg. (Vicenza) Italy
